Another year has passed, Ryan turned TWO today. When I think back on our time in the NICU I am so amazed and thankful at where he is now. At my 28 week appointment, Justin and I were told that we had to go directly to labor and delivery at the hospital. At the hospital they started me on steroid shots and told me that they hoped I could make it for another 48 hours of pregnancy. I was so terrified for my little baby. I knew that babies lived at this gestation but when they talked to us about the possibilities for the baby's (Ryan was unnamed and of unknown gender at this point) future, the statistics were not all that promising. I realize now that they were preparing us for the worst, and could not tell us for sure that our baby would live let alone what his future would hold. Working with the special needs adults that I worked with, I expected the worst and was heart broken. I searched the internet looking for stories, experiences of people in my same situation. Trying to find 28 week preemies who turned into normal, successful adults. Everyday he amazes me, everyday he learns and grows. We are so proud and honored to be the parents of our amazing little boy.
Happy Birthday to Ryan! I too am amazed at how big he is now and am so grateful that everything is so great with him! I know that it was terrifying at the time, although I can't fully understand. Yay that everything turned out so great!
Justin is the best husband that anyone could ask for, he loves to play with our babies, is joining the masons, and start new projects around the house.
Mallory loves being a mom, she she has been staying at home with her kids and enjoying every second. She likes to read, garden, go camping and be with her family. Ryan is three and is curious about how the world works, he is a very active little boy. His favorite things are tools, balls, and his bike. Samantha is 2 and she gives her brother a run for his money! She is a tiny little thing but she is every bit as active as her brother. She loves her Tinkerbell blanket, the zoo, animals of all kinds and being with people.
